Radon is a form of radioactive gas that can sometimes gather in people’s homes. It is formed by the elemental decay of uranium, radium, and thorium in soil and rock. Depending on the foundations of your property and upon what material it rests, radon can seep up through the ground and diffuse into the air.
Whilst radon does not often make the headlines, it is the second most common cause of lung cancer, killing between 15,000 and 22,000 people every year in the US.
Unfortunately, radon is invisible, and odourless, but it can be easily detected by using a simple home test kit.
